From Toronto by Car

Toronto – is Canada’s largest city and is the capital of its most populous province, Ontario. Large proportions of the population are immigrants and this leads to it being one of the most multicultural cities in North America. This cultural blend also adds a lot to the many festivals held throughout the year.

While you are in the city you could visit such attractions as the CN Tower, which offers beautiful views over the city; the Art Gallery of Ontario, Canada’s largest art museum; the Ontario Science Centre, designed to entertain the kids; and on the northern outskirts of Toronto you can visit Canada’s Wonderland, an amusement park that’ll give you the ride of your life!

What’s to see in the Toronto Area?
Toronto has much to offer the curious tourist, both inside and outside of the city.

Heading out of the city you can go south and around Lake Ontario towards the US border you will come across Hamilton on the western most edge of the lake. As you pass through the city you might find time to visit such attractions as Princess Point or check out any one of the waterfalls and cascades that give the town the name The City of Waterfalls. These should really whet your appetite for what you are coming up to next.

Continuing on towards the border you will come to Niagara Falls. These are possibly the most famous waterfalls in the world and they sit on the border between the US and Canada. The falls are divided into the Horseshoe Falls, on the Canadian side, and the American Falls. The river travels from the American side and then falls into Canada, so the best views are obtained from the Canadian side.

Heading north from Toronto you will come to Lake Huron where you will find Wasaga Beach. Here you will find a 14kms long stretch of white sandy beach which is the worlds longest freshwater beach! Other points of interest in this area include Sauble Beach, Sandbanks, Grand Bend, Long Point, and Turkey Point.

Also located in this area east of Lake Huron you can find Muskoka. Muskoka is an area of Ontario that is made up of an unspoilt paradise of rolling hills covered in vast expanses of forest. This is definitely the place to come if you are seeking an idyllic and serene setting, the perfect getaway from city life.

The Kawartha Lakes area is located about 130kms to the north east of Toronto. As the name suggests there are many hundreds of lakes in the area making it very popular with anglers and those interested in fishing. There are plenty of other activities if fishing doesn’t catch your interest such as hiking, camping, golf, hunting and so on.
