VisitEngland which is the domestic tourism body for the UK, recently released figures that state one in five British people will holiday at home this year to save money. Elliot Frisby a spokesperson for VisitBritain stated that recent research has shown that one in five people who holidayed abroad last year will consider holidaying on home soil this year. He went on to say that the UK “can easily rival any overseas destination for quality and value of experience“.
With hotels dropping their rates and offering great mid-week and weekend rates, restaurants offering the same great taste at better prices and great car hire UK rates, it is easy to see why people are choosing to holiday at home which can only mean great news for tourism in the UK! With such an abundance of great ‘see and do’ activities in the United Kingdom why go further!
VisitEngland are backing these new figures with a three million promotional campaign that will highlight the many advantages of taking a holiday in England this year as apposed to travelling abroad. With TV advertising and national newspaper adverts the campaign is in full swing and proving very popular.
