Children’s Play Parks in Alicante
Parque El Palmeral Alicante
Parque El Palmeral runs along the seaside and it offers plenty of walkways, water areas, play areas for the kids and a theatre that runs throughout the summer! What could be better than a family picnic under the many huge palmtrees and waterfalls. The kids will especially love a hired boat ride from here!
This is the oldest public park in Alicante – it was erected over 120 years ago! It is a great leisure and recreational area in the city and is home to fascinating 100-year-old rubber plants. There are plenty of kids amusements to be found in this park. The older kids will be astounded by the Spanish map that has been constructed out of stone!
Los Pelaos Park
This park is located in the Playa San Juan area. It is an indoor play park. There is an indoor maze that will definitely go down a treat with the kids! This play park is used mainly for children’s events such as parties but you can come here anytime!
Beaches and Watersports in Alicante
San Juan Beach Alicante
This is the most famous beach in Alicante, where the beach runs from El Campello all the way through to the Cabo de las Huertas coastline. There is wonderful quality of sand to be found at this beach and a visit will lead to pleasant relaxation for parents and plenty of sandcastle building for the children! The beach has many areas reserved for beach sports such as football, beach volleyball and watersports such as windsurfing.
El Postiguet Beach Alicante
This beach is located in the city at the foot of the Santa Barbara Castle and near the port. The beach has wonderful sand, and walkways lined by palm trees. There are plenty of beachsports and watersports to be enjoyed here, so much for the family to do!
Playa Lisa in Santa Pola
Enjoy the 11kms of beach at the nearby fishing town of Santa Pola (less than 30 minutes drive from Alicante – 21 km drive on the N-332), and here the kids can enjoy pedalo boat rentals and wind surfing.
Sailing Lessons for Kids
If you head to nearby Albufereta, you can enrol the kids in sailing lessons. There are various courses for children (many with English instructors) for all ages and ability. They will enjoy the sailing and windsurfing classes at the Club Náutico Alicante Costa Blanca.
Kids Attractions and Theme Parks in Alicante
Visit Santa Barbara Castle The Castle lies on an outcrop of land and towers above Alicante, and it is the prominent landmark of the city. Santa Barbara was built by the Moors in the 10th century and has everything to offer the visitor, in particular the kids! The cannons, palace, moat, bonfire museum, dungeons, and the majestic views from the Lookout Tower will mesmerize the younger ones. In the summertime, there are free musical concerts to be enjoyed that are organised by the local Town Council.
Monte Tossal Theme Park
Monte Tossal is located in the city centre next door to the San Fernando Castle. The Park is on the side of Mount Tossal and is broken up to describe the different regions of Valencia. There are great fun activities for the kids to enjoy here – such as mini golf, giant chess, skateboarding, skating and other games.
Take a trip to Canelobre Caves, they are just 25km from Alicante. They are the largest and deepest caves in Spain. Day Trip to Tabarca Island
The younger ones in the family will love a trip out to Tabarca Island. This small island is just a 30-minute ferry ride from Santa Pola. They will love to perch themselves on the top deck for the coastal and sea views and also going below deck to see the wonderful marine life from the glass bottom of the boat. Tabarca Island was the very first Marine Reserve in the Spanish mainland and nearly 1,500 hectares of marine life is protected today. The rocky beaches and clear waters of the island make it a perfect family day out.
Santa Pola is just a short 30-minute drive from Alicante on the N-332. The kids will love a trip to Pola Park. Here there are over 20 attractions, from bouncy castles, a laser maze and car crash tracks!
