Strikes in France and Travel Disruption

Strike action in France is continuing over pension reforms with major disruption to travel plans for many. Major transport links are severely affected so all those heading to France are being warned to expect cancellations and major delays.

It is reported that 50per cent of flights to Paris Orly have been cancelled and many airports across France have flights disrupted as air traffic controllers join the protests. Although Eurostar say their cross-Channel services are operating as normal, passengers can expect delays once they reach France. Train services have been heavily affected with only 25 percent of regional TGV services operating

For those travelling by car or who have reserved car hire , please note that  over 1000 petrol stations ran dry due to panic buying caused by a blockade of oil refineries. An alliance between truckers and oil refinery workers will have serious consequences for travel for all those travelling to and from Britain. Major demonstrations are planned for Bordeaux, Toulouse, Brest and Rennes, major tourist resorts for Britons.

If you have experienced the strikes and have advice for fellow travellers, please leave your comments.
